At the end of the school year last year, in all of the art classes at Coggeshall, Cranston-Calvert, Sullivan and Underwood, students created thumbnail sketches of what the new Pell School logo would look like.
Each student sketched anywhere from five to 20 designs. Fifteen finalists emerged, but the winner of the contest was Caitlin McCabe, whose logo now symbolizes the Pell Elementary School. Caitlin is currently a fourth grader at the school and was honored at an assembly, with her peers and parents, for her creativity and ability. Cassandra Paniagua and Michael Sinay Alvarez came in second and third place respectively.

After School Program Cluster 3 will begin Monday, March 3rd and will end Thursday April 10th, 2014.
Pell Elementary School is about to launch a Walking School Bus program. A Walking School Bus (WSB) is a group of children who walk to school together under the supervision of a trained adult leader (eg. a parent or college student). The program promotes good health, a cleaner environment, and reduced traffic around school.
The Newport Family and Child Opportunity Zone will be offering licensed school-age childcare daily after school at the Pell School for students in Kindergarten through grade four.
